Ok so after being told I could not talk about politics on a skype group. It brought back old wounds about the friends I have lost because I opened up to them about being an activist, and wanting to discuss current events (politics). Honestly no one should feel guilty about wanting to share their passions with others. Us LGBT are told all the time to "suck it up" and that we "do not have a right to be offended" by bigots, and many of us have accepted that abuse of the first amendment as fact. So, that being the case, here are my thoughts on why people "do not have the right to be offended" when someone, whose life revolves around social justice, wants to talk about current events.
